Shun Li and the Poet Io sono Li -Robert Burns Cinema, Dumfries. Tues 20th and Wed 21st August, 7.30

Tue 20 – Wed 21 August         (7.30)

Shun Li and the Poet  Io sono Li Andrea Segre | Italy 2013 | 98m | 15         | Subtitled

Shun Li and the Poet Io sono Li

A poignant tale of two kindred spirits adrift in Venice. Shun Li is a Chinese immigrant working behind a bar to gain passage for her 8 year old son still in China. There she meets fisherman Bepi, himself a Slavic immigrant, and an unlikely friendship blossoms. This causes friction both in   the Chinese immigrant community and the local fishing community.

This is a beautiful film that deftly portrays  the modern immigrant experience

If you have any films that you recommend or would like to watch on the big screen, let us know and we could suggest a film-night of your chosen movie at the Robert Burns Cinema.
